Living Life with a Sense of Urgency | Life Coach Seattle

Life Coach Seattle Introduction

Why do people get their act together and try and turn their life around when they’re hit with a major emergency (i.e., diagnosed with cancer – I have 1 month to live – maybe if I stop drinking, smoking and doing drugs ASAP I will have a better chance to fight this…). Why does someone stay obese for 10 years – one day they hear from their doctor that they have diabetes – then they decide to lose weight right away?

Why not train your mind to think that you will get diabetes or something else that’s horrific? Make your mind believe it by conversing with yourself until your mind is trained. Preparing for worst case scenarios was the primary method I used to train my mind to live life with a sense of urgency. This may sound extreme but some of you need to visualize the worst in order to make improvements in your life before it becomes a reality.

Life Coach Seattle Recommends Training Your Mind

Once your mind is trained to the ultimate level you will be in survival mode every day of the year! As if you were told you had 1 year to live and you were trying to accomplish as much as possible before time expires. Every minute becomes precious.

  • You will walk faster and with a purpose.
  • Get to the point quickly and insist that others do as well.
  • If you’re in management you will keep meetings short, to the point and focused on an agenda.
  • Things that you procrastinated on for years will get done. You will have a just do it mentality.
  • You will give yourself deadlines and not only meet them but beat them!

You never know when the unpredicted will impact your life and something happens that changes everything; a death, an accident, a stock market crash, a natural disaster, a major illness, etc. I believe that instilling a sense of urgency is critical for success because the outside world likes to steal your time away from you and the saboteur inside uses the same mechanism.

Possibility Of The Worst, Prepare For It

Over three decades ago when I was a teenager, I actually convinced myself (by training my mind) that my life would end at the age of 40. I kept telling myself repeatedly that I would die on my 40th birthday. I must have been a very good actor – eventually I was obsessing that I would die at that age. I know this may sound morbid but I wanted to give myself a deadline to complete my major goals as quickly as possible. I also wanted to leave behind a legacy for my future kids. I’ve seen too many elderly people who had given up on their dreams; too many people with regrets I didn’t want to be another statistic. I pushed and pushed HARD.

I actually accomplished my major goals at the age of 38. I’m not saying to take it to this extreme, however, this is your life and none of us know how much time we have. So use your time wisely and abhor waste.
